Mary's Food For Thought

Together, we can prevent hunger for children in our community

Our Mission

To ease the burden of food insecurity for vulnerable
children and their families particularly during the summer months.
Monthly Food Delivery Bags 3

Summer Food Program

During the summer, we distribute weekly food bags to Sunapee school families in need. These bags include essential staples such as milk, eggs, bread, and cereal, along with fresh fruits, vegetables, and healthy snacks. The program is designed to supplement other food assistance programs and provide additional support to families during the summer months, when free and reduced school lunch is not available.

Extended Year-Round Support

Monthly Family Meal Kit Program

Our monthly food bag program extends the support of our summer program throughout the school year by providing families with complete meal kits to prepare healthy, fresh meals at home. In addition to monthly distributions, families also receive food bags before school breaks, helping ensure consistent access to food when it’s needed most.

Sunapee Schools Snack Program

We provide daily snack milk for elementary students who qualify for free or reduced lunch, as the district is currently too small to receive state funding for this provision. Fresh, healthy snacks are also available on an as-needed basis to support students during the school day, ensuring no child goes hungry and easing the burden on teachers.

Field & Athletic Trip Meal Sponsorship

This program helps ensure students are fully supported during school activities by covering the cost of meals for qualifying students on out-of-town field trips and sponsoring meals for students participating in away athletic events.

Mary In Mind

Mary In Chair
The Driving Force Is Mary:

Mary is the foundation of our mission and everything we do. This project is devoted to her and to the cause she believed in so strongly: caring for children.

Through this work, we continue to show our love for her. She is our guiding light, someone who served her community with a deeply caring and generous spirit.

We began this project as a way to turn the immense pain we felt into something meaningful that could help others. We have poured our love and dedication into this work. Mary would love the impact this project has had, and it allows her legacy of caring for children to continue.
